Charter Bus Rental in San Francisco

San Francisco is hilly, dense and strict about large vehicles. We match the group to a vehicle that is allowed where you are going, book a licensed operator, and send one quote with the driver included.

Charter bus rental from SFO, Oakland and San José

Downtown is about 14 miles from SFO. Every charter pickup there has to be pre-arranged. The buses load in courtyards on SFO's Arrivals/Baggage Claim level. Give us every flight so the timing follows the actual landing.

Oakland is about 19 miles out and San José about 47. If your people land at more than one, price separate pickups before you try to make one bus cover them all.

Hotels, restricted streets and Moscone

On listed streets, the city restricts vehicles over 3 tons and those carrying 8 or more passengers. Tour buses may not idle over 5 minutes or double-park. Some hotel entrances around Nob Hill and Union Square will not suit a full coach. Send exact addresses and we flag the problem ones early.

Moscone Center, in SoMa, has three buildings: North, South and West. Tell attendees which building the bus serves. It saves the first-morning confusion.

Rules for buses in San Francisco

  • SF restricts 8+ passenger and over-3-ton vehicles on listed streets.
  • SF tour buses: no idling over 5 minutes, no double-parking.
  • Muir Woods: vehicles over 35 ft refused; reservation required.
  • Muir Woods: buses 30-35 ft must use Hwy 1 / Frank Valley Rd.
  • Alcatraz: Pier 33 has no on-site parking.

Alcatraz and Muir Woods need different vehicles

Pier 33 has no on-site parking for Alcatraz. The bus drops you and comes back for the return ferry. Build in slack for the ferry schedule.

Muir Woods requires a reservation and refuses vehicles over 35 feet. A bus of 30 to 35 feet has to take Highway 1 and Frank Valley Road. A full-size motorcoach will not do it. Ask for a smaller coach and we confirm its length with the operator before you book.

Wine country and longer runs

Napa and Sonoma each sit about 46 miles away. Small groups often prefer a Sprinter van because it fits winery driveways more easily than a coach. Monterey runs about two and a half to three hours. Yosemite is four to five hours each way, so plan it as an overnight.

Questions

Can a motorcoach take us into Muir Woods?

No. Vehicles over 35 feet are refused. A shorter coach or a van works, with a reservation made in advance.

Where does the driver meet us at SFO?

In the charter courtyards. They are on SFO's Arrivals/Baggage Claim level, and the pickup has to be pre-arranged, which we do when you book.

Can the bus wait at Pier 33 during the Alcatraz tour?

There is no on-site parking there. The driver leaves after the drop and returns for your ferry back.

Is Levi's Stadium close to the city?

No. It is in Santa Clara. Plan a longer run each way and decide whether the bus waits or returns.
