Charter bus rental for sports teams
A team charter bus trip is a fixed start time, a lot of gear and a tired group on the way home. Plan the bus around all three.
Getting the gear onto a team charter bus
A 45-foot coach has about 440 to 460 cubic feet of luggage space under the floor. That sounds like a lot until a hockey team loads bags and sticks. Count the gear, not just the players. Tell us the sport and the roster size. For some teams the right answer is a motorcoach plus a van for equipment.
Tell the driver the loading door at the arena or field in advance. Many venues have a separate team entrance, and the bus should go there first.

What the rules require
- Passenger drivers may not drive after 15 hours on duty.
- FMCSA: longer trips may need more than one driver.
Tournament weekends and driver hours
Tournaments run long. Once a driver has been on duty 15 hours, driving stops. There is also a 60-hour on-duty limit over 7 days, or 70 over 8. Friday travel, two days of games and a Sunday drive home can bump into those limits.
FMCSA says a longer trip may call for a second driver. We plan that in at the quote, so it is not a surprise at 10 pm on Sunday. Send the full schedule, including every game and the latest likely finish.
Never ask the driver to make up time
A game runs to overtime. The team leaves late. Someone asks the driver to push it to make the hotel dinner. The answer is no. FMCSA is plain on this: a driver should never be asked to speed or to make up lost time. Put slack in the schedule instead. Leave early for away games. Book dinner for a time you can make even if you leave late.
Questions
How big a bus does a football team need?
Count players, coaches and staff, then gear. A full squad plus gear often needs more than one vehicle. Send the roster size and we suggest a mix.
Can the same bus stay with us all weekend?
Yes. Book the weekend as one trip. The operator plans the driver's hours and, if needed, a second driver.
Can the bus leave right after the final whistle?
Yes, if the driver is within hours and the team is ready. Tell us the latest likely finish so the plan holds.
