JFK charter bus rental for groups

A group landing at JFK needs one vehicle, one driver and one meeting point. Here is how a charter bus rental pickup works at Kennedy, and what to send so the day starts on time.

How a charter bus pickup works at JFK

JFK has five working terminals: 1, 4, 5, 7 and 8. The driver meets your group in the ground transportation area of the terminal you land at. So the first thing we need is the terminal and airline for every flight in your group.

The coach does not sit at the curb while you clear customs. The driver waits in a JFK lot, either in the East Cell Phone Lot or in the Free Wait Lot by Lefferts Boulevard, then comes in. That is why your group contact calls the driver once bags are in hand, not when the plane touches down.

Where your driver meets you

  • Each terminal's ground transportation area; driver meets you there.

Commercial vehicle staging

  • Driver waiting: Free Wait Lot near Lefferts Blvd; East Cell Phone Lot.

Drive to downtown

  • about 15 miles (Midtown), 40-75 min

Groups landing at two terminals

If half the group lands at Terminal 4 and half at Terminal 8, pick one meeting terminal. AirTrain is free inside the airport, so the second half rides over. One stop beats two. The driver is not circling the terminal loop with a full-size coach.

At Terminals 5 and 7, the pickup for ride apps and car services is the Howard Beach AirTrain lot. If you book a sedan or SUV for a few people off those terminals, plan the AirTrain ride into the timing.

From JFK into Manhattan by motorcoach

Buses must follow New York City truck routes, and parkways need a Highway Travel Permit. The driver's route may not match your phone's, and it can run to the long end of the drive time.

Give us the exact hotel address, not just the name. There is no bus pickup or drop-off on Fifth Avenue from 32nd to 59th Street, and the idling limit is three minutes. If your hotel sits on that stretch, we agree a side-street point with you ahead of time.

What to send before the day

Send every flight number, the head count and the number of large bags. Flight numbers let the pickup follow the real landing time. Bag counts decide whether a minibus is enough or the group needs a motorcoach with under-floor bays. Name one contact whose phone will be on.

Questions

Where does the driver meet us at JFK?

In the ground transportation area of your arrival terminal. The driver confirms the exact spot with your group contact before the day.

Can the bus wait at the curb while we clear customs?

No. The driver waits in the East Cell Phone Lot or in the Free Wait Lot by Lefferts Boulevard, and pulls in when your contact calls. Waiting time can change the price, so tell us if you expect a long international arrival.

How long is the ride to Midtown?

Usually 40 to 75 minutes for about 15 miles. Leave room before a show or a dinner booking. A coach on truck routes rarely hits the short end at rush hour.
