Charter bus services by type of trip

The type of trip changes the vehicle, the schedule and the rules. Pick the one closest to yours.

Same bus, different rules

A school trip and a wine tour can use the same coach and still plan differently. For students, check the carrier's safety rating by USDOT number. For a wine tour, open-container rules come from the state, and the driver cannot drink within 4 hours of driving.

Long days need a driver plan

Sports teams, casino runs and multi-stop tours hit driver hours fastest. A driver cannot drive after 15 hours on duty. Tell us the real start and finish, and we plan around it with the operator. Casino runs need care: extra stops on the way home can push the day past the limit.

Questions

Can you book a wheelchair-accessible bus?

Yes. Charter operators have to supply an accessible bus when asked. They may require 48 hours' notice.

Is a party bus a charter bus?

It is a charter in the sense that your group has the whole vehicle. The layout, seating and alcohol rules differ.

Do church groups need anything special?

Not when they hire. Organizations that own a bus can become regulated carriers. When you hire, those duties stay with the operator.
