Planning around the convention center rebuild

The Austin Convention Center closed in April 2025 for a rebuild that is expected to finish in 2028. If your event used to meet there, check the new venue address. The Palmer Events Center, at 900 Barton Springs Rd, is open.

Capitol, LBJ Library and school groups

Groups over 10 must reserve tours at the Texas State Capitol. Bus drop-off and parking are arranged by calling visitor services before the day. At the LBJ Presidential Library, groups of 15 or more can reserve. The Bullock Museum is near the Capitol and also books groups.

Reserve the tours first, then fix the bus times around them. For school groups, send the teacher's cell number so the driver can reach the group on the day.

Race weekends, game days and Hill Country trips

The Formula 1 United States Grand Prix is held at Circuit of The Americas. Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium, Q2 Stadium and the Moody Center also draw big crowds. On those days, agree a pickup point away from the main gates and allow time to get out.

Lockhart and New Braunfels are about an hour. Fredericksburg and San Antonio run up to two. Houston is three to three and a half hours each way.

Yes, when arranged in advance. Call Capitol visitor services to set up drop-off and parking, and reserve the tour if you have more than 10 people.

Is the Austin Convention Center open?

No. It is closed for a rebuild expected to finish in 2028. Confirm your event's venue before we plan shuttles.

What vehicle suits a Hill Country winery day?

A Sprinter van for up to 19 passengers. Larger groups need a coach.
