Wheelchair accessible charter bus rental
An accessible coach has a lift and wheelchair securement locations. Ask for it when you request the quote. Here is how the request works and what to expect on the day.
Asking for an accessible coach
A full-size charter coach is an over-the-road bus: the passenger deck sits up high, over a baggage compartment. You cannot roll a wheelchair up the steps. So the coach needs a lift. An operator chartering these buses must supply an accessible one when asked, and can require up to 48 hours' notice. With shorter notice they must still try with reasonable effort.
Ask in the first message. Say how many wheelchair users are traveling and whether the chairs are manual or powered. That tells the operator which vehicle to send.

What the rules require
- Over-the-road bus: elevated passenger deck over a baggage compartment.
- With shorter notice, they must still try with reasonable effort.
What the operator must and must not do
On an accessible over-the-road bus you get a lift and two wheelchair securement locations. If more than two people need securement, tell us. It may take a second vehicle.
A passenger with a disability cannot be required by the operator to bring a companion to assist. Companions are welcome, but they are not a condition of travel.
Planning the stops
Loading by lift takes longer than walking up the steps. Some city stops are short: 15 minutes at Pike Place Market's charter zone, 15 minutes loading in the French Quarter. Pick stops where the bus can take its time, and tell the driver which passengers use the lift so they board first. For smaller groups, some minibuses have wheelchair-lift floor plans. On a multi-day trip, give the driver the same boarding order each morning. It saves time and nobody has to explain their needs twice.
