Hobby or IAH changes the whole morning

From Hobby, the port is about 40 miles, 45 to 60 minutes. From IAH it is roughly 70 miles, or about 90 minutes. If you have the choice, fly into Hobby. If the group lands at both, price two vehicles. One bus shuttling between them wastes half the morning.

Do not plan a same-day flight into IAH with a tight sailing. Arrive the day before, stay in Houston or on the Galveston Seawall, and take the bus in the morning.

The permit and the gate

Every ground transportation operator at the port needs a port-approved permit. Charter bus and shuttle bus are separate categories. The port area is gated, and entry needs an AVI/RFID toll tag. We check the operator holds the right permit and tag before booking.

Four terminals, one address that matters

Galveston has Cruise Terminals 10, 16, 25 and 28. Terminal 16 opened in November 2025. Send the terminal number with the ship name. Loading, staging and holding areas are designated by the port, so the driver needs the terminal to find the right one.

On return day, give us a realistic ready time. The driver waits in the holding area. Long waits add to the quote.

Adding a stop on the way

Space Center Houston waives its parking fee for buses. It works as a pre-cruise stop if bags stay locked on the bus. Moody Gardens and The Strand suit a post-cruise afternoon before the flight home. Check the flight time first, then work back.
